I was in on the ground floor with this vineyard, planted about 20 years ago. It was a calculated risk as there were many fewer vineyards in this area near Bodega Bay then. It illustrates the allure and structure of this Coastal site as well as the variations that vintage brings to burnish the different sides of this gem.
Joan and Lew Platt planted these vines for us to work with on their property overlooking the town of Bodega. A very cool site with intelligently selected plant material that is well farmed is a Pinot Noir maker’s dream. Red, black and blue fruit character with great structure, minerality and complexity are the result.
