Along with several esteemed colleagues, around 2000, I was invited to get in on the ground floor with several blocks of vines right at planting time. We were all able to select clones we wanted to use there. My run of vintages from this fine site was 2007-2021. This swath of library releases is in the middle section of this run, showing some bottle development which is something we value highly here.
Joan and Lew Platt planted these vines for us to work with on their property overlooking the town of Bodega. A very cool site with intelligently selected plant material that is well farmed is a Pinot Noir maker’s dream. Red, black and blue fruit character with great structure, minerality and complexity are the result.
