Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The Scherrer Winery website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

We are targeting full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance by July 31, 2026.

  • Implemented a custom accessibility-first navigation system with full keyboard support, ARIA labeling, and visible focus indicators.
  • Remediated color contrast throughout the site to meet or exceed AA requirements.
  • Established accessibility as a core requirement of our ongoing site redevelopment.
  • Continued to test and improve the site on an ongoing basis.

Because much of the site is built from shared templates, accessibility improvements applied to one page generally extend to all pages using the same template.

Limitations and Alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, some areas of the website remain in active remediation:

  • My Account, Cart, and Checkout pages have minor outstanding accessibility issues that we are working to resolve. If you experience any difficulty placing an order, please call us at 707-823-8980 and we will be happy to assist you. Orders can be placed by phone during normal business hours.
  • Other pages and content not listed above have not yet completed our formal accessibility review and may contain issues we have not yet identified or addressed. We will continue auditing and remediating these pages on an ongoing basis through our July 31, 2026 target date.
