Winemaker's Notes
My favorite syrahs tend to come from sites where the grapes may not be able to ripen to the same degree every vintage. Pictured is Calypso Vineyard, perched in a slightly warmer, higher site inside this very cool area, is one of those. Its is farmed practically single–handedly by owner Otis Holt, and is truly a labor of love.
No new oak is necessary with this variety as the nuances deserve that space between the notes. It is not a ‘Phil Spector Wall of Sound’ production. It is more of a Windham Hill acoustic piece.
