Winemaker's Notes
Not all rosé wines are created equal. There are a minority that are designed to improve and develop with several years or more time in bottle. Domaine Tempier is a perfect example of my own inspiration of what a serious rosé can be. When preparing for self-employment nearly 30 years ago, Judi informed me that until we start making money, no more fancy beer or Tempier rosé. I could live without the beer, but needed something to scratch that rosé itch. While I do not attempt to copy any particular gestalt of wine, I’m certainly inspired by the classic icons and aim to create something that can stand alongside them with confidence and originality.
We are offering 3 vintages to illustrate the progression of this style from ‘a bit too young’ to ‘in the pocket’ to ‘still in the pocket’. The basic proportions of the Grenache, Zinfandel and Syrah are quite similar, only varying according to vintage leanings. At home we have been focused on the 23 and 24 vintages, reveling in each.
