Zinfandel
Zinfandoodle, v.6.7

$ 18.75

My Uncle Mario used to tease me about my teenage efforts of making Zinfandel, calling it ‘Zinfandoodle.’ This multi-vintage wine, while nothing to poke fun at, should satisfy most Zinfandel cravings without soaking the wallet enough to dampen one’s sense of humor.

Winemaker's Notes

From precious ‘leftovers’ liberated thru fine-tuning of the ‘Old & Mature Vines’ bottlings, this multi-vintage wine is our answer to the question ‘how does one maximize the quality of everything?’ Being able to blend across different vintages is truly liberating. (By contrast, one must have 95% of the wine from a single vintage in order to denote a vintage date.) This version, Zinfandoodle 6.7, is a bit meatier and thicker than the previous one (v. 4.5) but every bit as delicious. Black pepper, blackberry, cocoa, with a bit of red, blue, and even stone fruit emerge from its dense, but not ponderous core. Those of you in the know, realize what an awesome value this wine is. No wonder it disappears quickly

    Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate February 2010

    The non-vintage Zinfandoodle v6.7 exhibits a dark ruby color along with copious quantities of berry fruit intermixed with herbs, pepper, and spice. It is a medium-bodied, seductive, round, delicious blend to enjoy over the next several years. Consistently fine wines with considerable personality/individuality are produced by Fred Scherrer. 99 points. Robert Parker
