Winemaker's Notes
A very nice mixture of red, black and blue fruits is still on the forefront yet anchored/balanced by fresh loam and savory nuances. On the mouth it gently takes over command in a very sneaky way. It is a ‘plushly’ textured middle-weight wine with lots of flavor. Bright, acidity gives just enough of an upward trajectory to the finish. My favorite part is a sense of transparency to the flavors: Nothing too assertive, everything in its place taking turns shining, for a moment. What it may lack in quantity due to the lower crop is made up for in quality and grace.

California Grapevine – May 2017
Medium-dark ruby color; attractive, forward, ripe, fragrant, spicy, strawberry and dark berry fruit aroma with good depth and intensity; full body; ripe, fleshy, plummy, red and black fruit flavors with good depth and concentration, bright acidity, and a slight jaminess in the mouthfeel; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended. My Score: 17 [91 of 100 points], first place). Nick Ponomareff

Sleek and seamless, with briary wild berry aromas and elegantly layered raspberry, dried sage and white pepper flavors. Drink now through 2024. 90 Points. Tim Fish

The 2015 Zinfandel Old & Mature Vines Scherrer Vineyard is a wine of distinction and pedigree. Rich, deep and luscious, with tremendous character, the 2015 hits all the right notes. Most importantly, the Old & Mature Vines avoids some of the more rustic notes found in the other Zinfandels, while the expression of fruit is beautifully overt. This is very nicely done. 93+ points.
