Winemaker's Notes
The 2005 OMV Zinfandel is both spicy and fruity, with many layers: red, blue and black fruits, and a minerality and earthiness that made me anxious to bottle it so I could conveniently take some home. During its time in the barrel, I had to keep reminding myself that pushing the bottling date out as far as possible is a very good thing for our Zinfandels.
Judi Scherrer –
The Wine Advocate – February 2010
Scherrer continues to demonstrate a brilliant touch with Zinfandel. From some of his oldest vines, the 2005 Zinfandel Scherrer Vineyard is a very strong effort in a vintage that was unkind to many Zinfandel producers. Wild strawberry, fresh pepper, and earth undertones are found in this medium to full-bodied, ripe, nicely textured, seductive effort. Drink it over the next 3–4 years. Consistently fine wines with considerable personality/individuality are produced by Fred Scherrer. 90 points, Robert Parker
