Grenache
Sonoma County, 2012
Kick Ranch, in the eastern edge of the Rincon Valley, is becoming known for its Grenache and Syrah wines as well as Petite Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. It is in one of the cooler places that this variety performs well in.

Syrah
‘Sasha,’ 2009
The more feminine of our two regional Syrah bottlings, we have chosen to call this ‘Sasha.’ It expresses more of the blueberry/white pepper side of the grape and can be served with foods that suit a larger-framed Pinot Noir. This variety also has a tendency to age well beyond one’s expectations based upon sheer size.

Syrah
Calypso Vineyard, 2012
My favorite syrahs tend to come from sites where the grapes may not be able to ripen to the same degree every vintage. Calypso Vineyard, perched in a slightly warmer, higher site inside this very cool area, is one of those. Its is farmed practically single–handedly by owner Otis Holt, and is truly a labor of love.

Zinfandel
Shale Terrace, 2008
Within the Scherrer Vineyard there are several different soils. One vineyard site, the “Shale Terrace,” is located on a relatively deep, well-drained, fractured shale subsoil. It yields wines with an uncommon blend of richness and finesse. This wine was bottled without fining or filtration to capture the beauty and personality of this particular vineyard site.
