Cabernet Sauvignon
Alexander Valley, 2013
Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is typically one of the softer, rounder manifestations of the varietal. This is the more open-structured of our two Cabernet bottlings, which reveals its accessible, yet substantial and age-worthy personality. Rich, plummy, lightly herbal, and toasty, with mild cassis character, this unfined, unfiltered wine will complement a wide variety of foods for many years.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Scherrer Vineyard, 2006
This is a unique and exotic expression of Alexander Valley benchland Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in small French oak cooperage for about thirty months, with infrequent racking. Bottled without fining or filtration to respect the expression of the site, this 100% varietal wine enjoys both a youthful suppleness and the structure necessary for lengthy storage.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Sonoma County, 2012
A few barrels from the Scherrer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon harvest spoke neither of the individual site, or the appellation, but insisted on a place of their own. This harmonious wine with good varietal character should give substantial pleasure without significant bottle age — two to five years from the vintage should be sufficient.

Pinot Noir
Platt Vineyard, 2011
Joan and Lew Platt planted these vines for us to work with on their property overlooking the town of Bodega. A very cool site with intelligently selected plant material that is well farmed is a Pinot Noir maker’s dream. Red, black and blue fruit character with great structure, minerality and complexity are the result.

Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley, 2010
While grown primarily in the sandy Goldridge soil, which tends to produce Pinot Noir with flavors of red fruits and orange peel, this wine also illustrates some of the deep, brooding black cherry character generally found in the region’s clay soils. It was bottled without fining or filtration, and should age gracefully for a handful of years.

Syrah
Calypso Vineyard, 2012
My favorite syrahs tend to come from sites where the grapes may not be able to ripen to the same degree every vintage. Calypso Vineyard, perched in a slightly warmer, higher site inside this very cool area, is one of those. Its is farmed practically single–handedly by owner Otis Holt, and is truly a labor of love.

Zinfandel
‘Old Vines’ Centennial, 2012
Vines planted in 1912 - this wine celebrates their 100th year. Only two men have farmed them over their lifespan: they were planted by my grandfather, Fred Carl Scherrer, and have been cared for by his son (my father), Edwin Rowe Scherrer. This wine has seen only older, larger format cooperage, and relies on the grape's every nuance.

Zinfandel
Old & Mature Vines, 2011
Our old vine Zinfandel represents the labor of three generations of the Scherrer family — many of the vines that produced this wine were planted in 1912. It was bottled without fining or filtration to capture the beauty and personality of the Scherrer Vineyard. Although enjoyable in its youth, it should age and develop gracefully for 5 to 10 years after the vintage.

Pinot Noir
‘Big Brother,’ 2012
It isn’t easy for a Pinot Noir to be extremely generous while still maintaining the delicacy unique to the variety. This is one of those. Blended from a vineyard in Annapolis, which provided the generosity, and from Bodega, which completed the balancing act, it should satisfy lovers of ‘big’ wines and delicate wines with equal facility.
